fashion femme: layer me pretty

IMG_0363Autumn is by far my favorite season. Between leaves changing into glorious colors, pumpkins and weather that doesn’t make me feel like I’m going to melt right out of my skin, what’s not to adore? Yet fall is a tricky month for figuring one’s wardrobe. Temperatures shift like moods, from freezing in the morning to (dare I say?) warm by afternoon.
How do you plan what to wear that will adapt from one situation to the next? Layers, of course.

For this look, pair a lightweight long-sleeved top with a heavy-knit short-sleeved cardi a la Forever 21 (find similar here). Dark skinnies match everything effortlessly. (So, get yourself a pair–stat!) The ripped details of this pair matched all too well with the textured top from Victoria’s Secret. Top off with a casual fedora (find similar here) and a pair of show-stopping boots (find similar here). To complete the ensemble, layer a couple of necklaces. Find this fantastic crystal pendant necklace at Joya. This local jewelry designer has a panache for incorporating natural elements with delicate designs. Want another reason to check them out? Proceeds from each purchase goes to charities for women. Plus, the hand-crafted jewelries and accessories are created by artisan communities from around the world. Helloooo to the weekend! It has been one heck of a week & I could not be happier that it’s finally over. Tonight, I get to celebrate four years of wedded bliss with the love of my life. Before I let him spoil me rotten though, I wanted to share my weekly inspirations with you all so you too can start the weekend off right!

Moments happen in life when your confidence is tested & you encounter a situation you’ve never navigated before. These times are opportunities for you to surprise yourself with your resilience & ability to still grow.

Okay, so maybe it still feels slightly like summer out here, but I’m here to tell you, it’s boots season, baby. Dust ’em off & pull ’em up because these boots were made for walkin’.

I found the newest props to add to the photo booth collection & they so speak to the nerd in me!

I’m overdue for a bathroom remodel. I’m thinking this waterfall faucet may need to make an appearance. If you don’t think soaking in a tub with candles & wine is a way to #LiveTheLuxeLife, then I throw my hands up at you.

While I’m lavishing in the romance of our anniversary evening, we may just dream big about our next vacation. The Giants Causeway in Ireland is on my must-see list. What’s on your list?

Anybody else surprised the weekend is here already?  (Not that I’m complaining by any means.)  I have been busy takin’ care of business, so bring on the weekend, baby.  Here are a few inspirations from around the web that have really spoken to me as of late.  Hope they too can inspire you:

TRUTH.  I also really appreciate the graphic design of this piece.  Don’t you think it would work well as an art print in your kitchen?

I am a major fan of earrings.  Rarely will you catch me without anything adorning my ears.  & these earrings have got me lusting after them because of their unique design.  Let’s add these to my Christmas list, please!

My husband just had a birthday this week!  What did he request for his birthday gift?  Books, books & more books.  I’m happy to oblige as I’m a fellow book-lover.  I think we may just have to try this idea out next year for him because how could he not be pleased with the results?

A kimono seems like a great transitional piece into fall fashion.  You can still pull off the short dresses of summer as long as you pair it with a decent cover-up for the cooler temperatures.

Any doubters around you as of late?  Anyone not taking you seriously when they should?  Make this your mantra.  Focusing on yourself and doing the best you can do will make it easier to leave them in your dust.

Have a grand weekend, ladies & gents!
